The Ilter Clinic is a step ahead
After several years of losing my hair, I decided to do something about it. As I saw it, there were two alternatives: I could either shave it all off for the rest of my life or have a hair transplant. Why did I feel this way? Well, it’s hard to explain. Especially to guys who haven’t lost their hair or to people it doesn’t seem to bother at all.But for me personally, it meant I gradually lost my self-confidence the more and more hair I lost. It was psychologically difficult to go from being happy and positive to quiet and withdrawn.
I began by searching for information on the Internet about hair loss and clinics that practiced hair transplantation. In the end, I cut my short list down to the Ilter Clinic and one of its competitors. The most important thing for me was finding a professional clinic that could make as natural results as possible.
About the FUE IM method
The Ilter Clinic practices the FUE IM method, which is a refinement of the usual FUE method. It uses more advanced instruments that are much smaller and improve the healing time. In addition, the risk for visible scarring is much lower. FUE IM also creates smaller incisions that allow for the denser placing of grafts. The method also feels like it is the most superior of procedures on offer in Sweden today, so it was easy to choose this clinic for my hair transplantation.I felt I had a good connection with the clinic via e-mail before my procedure, and they were incredibly helpful with everything I was wondering about before the big day. They provided good, clear answers and information.
I arrived at the clinic early on a Wednesday. A very nice nurse met me at the door. She welcomed me to the clinic and showed me to my private room. I left all my stuff here and was able to relax, stretch my legs, eat and read here during the pauses in the operation. I immediately felt at home!
The nurse informed me about how the day would go ahead and she told me about some practical details. I was given a small sedative and a painkiller before we started.
The nurse then photographed my hair and my (then!) hairstyle from the front, sides, back and top. My hair was they cut very short and photographed again from exactly the same distance and angles.
I then chose a couple of films from their gigantic library of DVD movies, which you can watch while the operation is in progress. I chose two films, settled down on the special chair and Dr Ilter began by anaesthetizing the back and sides and extracting the grafts. He worked on one side at a time with pauses between so I could stretch my legs or visit the bathroom, drink, etc.
Two watched films later, Dr Ilter had extracted all the grafts that we had agreed on (2,000 in my case). It was then time for lunch. When I got back to my room, I saw lunch was already served – great service!
After lunch, Dr Ilter drew a suggested pattern on my head to show how the grafts ought to be placed. I was involved in the decision-making process and we quickly agreed on a solution that would suit me best. The recipient area was then anesthetized and small incisions were made up front. Dr Ilter’s medical assistants then got to work positioning the grafts and everything was completed during the afternoon.
The entire operation was almost pain free, with the anaesthetization the only part you feel.
During the last hour of the operation, I was informed about how I should treat the recipient and donor areas after the operation. They even gave me a load of aftercare products that help the skin to recover and heal faster.
The day ended with a last photo session and I then left the clinic to go how and wait for the results. I counted the days, weeks and months until my new hair would grow!
The day after the procedure felt like a massive relief, despite the fact I wouldn’t be able to see the results for another 9 to 12 months
I am convinced I chose the right clinic. The Ilter Clinic is a step ahead of other practices in Sweden and they were professional. I felt very well taken care of from the first moment I contacted them.

When all flights to Northern Europe were grounded because of a volcano eruption in Iceland, Dr. Ilter was stranded in southeast Europe.
