I was 21 when I started to notice my hair loss. The hairline around my temples started to recede higher and higher, and it had a negative effect on me straight away. When I turned 27, I decided I needed to do something about it.About a year ago, I began to look into the FUE method as an alternative. While the cost was important, the potential results were also a major factor in my decision.
Because I had to live with my looks for the rest of my life, I wanted the treatment to be as good as possible right away.
My reasons for choosing the Ilter Clinic were that I lived in Stockholm during the week, and after the excellent consultation and terrific welcome I received, I found little reason to shop around for another clinic.
My FUE IM operation started at 7:30 on a Monday morning. I had spent the weekend getting ready for the procedure and I also planned to take the day off work on Tuesday.
The first thing we did was take pictures of my hair. After that we shaved it short and took some more pictures. I ate some breakfast before the operation and then lay on the special bed so that the anesthetic could begin. While this was probably the most unpleasant part, it was not unbearable and Dr. Ilter was very calming, reacting immediately when it hurt.
Once the anesthetic started to take effect, Dr. Ilter began to identify and extract the grafts. I did not feel a thing except for one small area that Dr. Ilter identified immediately and applied more local anesthetic.
It felt good to watch films during the operation, as I got to concentrate on something else and not wonder what Dr. Ilter was doing. While I was on the bed, I started to get tired. The slight sedative I took around breakfast time was starting to take effect and I slept for a while.
When the extraction was finished, it was time for lunch. All these breaks were very welcome as I could walk around and stretch my legs whenever I wanted. The staff was attentive, frequently asking me how I was feeling and making me feel comfortable. After a quick half hour lunch, it was time to start again. This time, Dr. Ilter worked on the recipient area at the front and temples after I received more local anesthetic.
While this was going on, I started watching my second film. Again, it was great to have something to do to pass the time.
When the recipient area was ready, two nurses took over and began to place the grafts in the small holes that Dr. Ilter had made. This was the last step, but took some time to make sure it was just right.
Everything was done by 4 p.m. Once I was up from the bed, we took some more pictures and then I was free to go home! I was extremely pleased with the entire day and the way the staff treated me.
