Macro to micro to nano: hair transplantation

Both macro- and microsurgical methods are practiced today in hair transplantation.
Macrosurgical hair transplantation methods such as punch grafts and FUT/Strip are still being practiced in hair restoration clinics around the world. Traditional surgical tools are used for these procedures, which often result in large scars and a “doll hair” appearance.
Rapid developments in hair transplantation have produced smaller and more advanced tools, but many hair restoration clinics continue to use macrosurgical methods and end up with poor results. Thankfully, these results can be rectified using microsurgical instruments.
The FUE Ilter Method (FUE IM) is named after the founder of the Ilter Clinic, Dr. Ilter. The procedure was officially launched in May 2005, under the name FUE Plus. Since then the process and the technique have been refined and today, FUE IM is the only microsurgical method practiced at the Ilter Clinic.
In the future, we expect our tools to develop further and become even smaller, shifting toward so-called nanotechnology. We also expect breakthroughs in gene therapy and the cloning of hair follicles. Naturally, the Ilter Clinic is watching these developments very closely.
The Ilter Clinic - a world leader in FUE
The Ilter Clinic was the first in Europe to practice FUE hair transplantation. Since 2004, we have refined the method and are currently the only practice in the world working with instruments as small as 0.5 to 0.75mm in diameter.
We play a leading role in pushing this modern hair operating technique forward. Dr. Ilter and his surgical team at the Ilter Clinic regularly take part in international hair transplant conferences and seminars. This helps us to stay on the cutting edge of our field and retain our leading position in FUE developments. We therefore see it as a natural step to expand our organization to offer training and education in FUE hair transplantation.

With a hair transplantation operation scheduled in Stockholm, Sweden on April 20th, he had to find a quick solution for the problem. Not being a person to sit around and wait as airports continued to close all over Europe, he decided to drive to his patient.
The 3.850 km. drive accross Europe took him two and a half days to complete. But he made it to Stockholm on the day of the scheduled operation. If you want to read the whole story of this dash accross Europe, a blog is posted here
